Branca-Flor Theatre
Branca-Flor Theatre was created by the writer Lília da Fonseca, with a repertoire specially dedicated to children. Its première took place on January 6, 1962, at the National Fine Arts Society, with the play “The Grotto’s Little Girl and her Wand”. The scenography was made by the students of Francisco Arruda School, under the instructions of the teachers Calvet de Magalhães and Keil do Amaral, and the musical score was charged to Francine Benoit. During its existence, it obtained support from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, which gave the first stimulus to its activity.
Representing, at the time, the UNIMA 6 in Portugal, it performed all over the country, and even participated in international puppet festivals, namely in Belgium, in Spa (1969), and in France, at the Charleville-Mézièrs World Festival (1972).
