A Tarumba started in 2009 a creation cycle dedicated to the theme of love with Mironescópio: The Love Machine, a show of small forms inspired by the ancient Peep Shows. In 2010 the company made the premiere on the 11th of November at Museu da Marioneta, its new creation inspired on the comedy of A Midsummer Night's Dream by William Shakespeare.
The dreams of a magical night that will be small for so many events … a truly surreal atmosphere, with fairies, goblins, lost lovers, couples in love, love potions, dreams and laughter, where spirits defy the meaning of true love. An invitation to pleasure, laughter, and to dream with eyes wide open … to the madness of love. A romantic story that unfolds in a forest near Athens, but that can happen at any place or time …
In a vintage ambiance of a decadent cabaret, Lady Elizabeth, Lady Rachel, Sir Gianni Shake, and Sir Butler, strange legends and stars from the past that could all come from an old B movie series presents a show of animated forms, with very “special” puppets that will take you to various “corners” of this dream, inspired by Shakespeare … the tables are manipulating vanity tables and everything is possible, as in the world of dreams… and a love potion that becomes a symbol of the irrational and natural power of love, which can cause strange and unexplained behaviors and to which you cannot resist.
Love problems or love sickness are affecting four characters: Hermia loves Lysander, Lysander loves Hermia, Helena loves Demetrius and Demetrius loves Hermia, and not Helena, or shall we say that two men love the same woman, leaving one woman with many suitors, and one with very few … the Queen of the Fairies loves a man with a donkey's head because of a magic potion, applied by the King, that wishes to have as his knight a young Indian boy… but who shuffles all this set is Puck and… the best is to watch this dream … to celebrate theatre and love!
